The new generation’s Elantra GT by Hyundai made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show in 2017. It is basically a European version with few tweaks and a new name. Yes! Hyundai has introduced its European model i30 in America with the name 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT. It does carry previous Elantra sedan’s equipment and looks but with a hatchback. The new Elantra GT will be available in two variants, the base or entry level Elantra GT and Elantra GT Sports.
Hyundai Elantra GT 2018 Interior
The look is much alike the Elantra sedan’s interior, however, you can find some different and advanced features too. The cabin is large and spacious with leather upholstery seating, dual-zone climate control, and aluminum pedals. The leather covered steering wheel has a bunch of buttons regarding the controlling features. The center of the dashboard is holding a TFT screen displaying the speed and other driving dynamics. Whereas the instrument cluster is semi digitalized with the tachometer and speed gauges, plus small gauges for engine temperature and fuel. The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Sports holds the same specs but with touches of red piping and outlines around the seats, shifter boots, and vents.

The infotainment panel contains an advanced processor with “floating” 8-inches display screen which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with wireless charging functionality. It also has ‘Clari-Fi’, a premium audio suite to restore best audio quality. The users can now stay updated regarding the incident data and traffic flow without any charges, as the Birdseye view feature is also integrated with the Navigation maps. The hatchback has 25 cubic feet of cargo space and can be increased to around 51 cubic feet by 40/60 rear seat folding.
As the new Elantra is uploaded with dynamic features, Blue Link infotainment software is one of them. It permits the users to start up, lock and unlock their car via their smartphones through the Blue Link infotainment app. This smart feature is really helpful for users during hot/chilling weather. Users can now even control heated side mirrors and rear defroster through Blue Link Connectivity app.
Another feature which is being integrated with the Blue Link connectivity is the Blue Link skill for Amazon Alexa. So, now the users can give commands to blue link system to start/lock/unlock their car through the Alexa app by Amazon. And to avail, this features the users just need to install the Alexa app compatible with Fire and Android devices and then access the Blue Link Skill in their Alexa app and link it with their presented Blue Link Skill account.

Last but not the least; you will now get the Audio Video Navigation (AVN) 5.0 feature. Users can now enjoy the channels like SiriusXM, FM, and AM combined on one 8 inches screen, thanks to the snappier processor.
2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Exterior
The body of the new 2018 Elantra GT is bit long, broad and sharper and barycenter low on the road. The Elantra GT’s body is 22% more strong and rigid due to high strength steel utilization, however, it is also 61 pounds light in weight as compared to its predecessor. The front fascia is also redesigned and the new hatchback comes with a standard LED running lights with glossy inserts and full LED headlamps as an option. The bulky grille is now replaced with a sleek cascading grille. To pass on additional wind current through the sash, there is little air dam underneath the headlights.

The backlights are sleeker and the back reflectors have been moved from the lower corners of the belt and now sit alongside the superiorly incorporated lower belt. As compared to its previous model, the new Elantra has more defined lines and curves, the LED side markers on the mirror are sleeker and the backline of the mirror is now flattened. The Elantra GT is holding 17 inches aluminum wheels with a wheelbase of 104.3 inches. Whereas the Elantra GT Sports has bigger disc brakes and is running on 18 inches alloy wheels. The length, width, and height are 107.9 inches, 70.7 inches, and 57.5 inches respectively.
The buyers will get options to choose from two engines. Either they can have a direct injection 2.0-liter 4 cylinder engine which displaces 162 horsepower @ 6200 rpm with a torque of 150 pounds-feet @ 4700 rpm. Or the other 1.6 liters turbocharged 4 cylinder engine which can generate 201 horsepower @ 6000 rpm and 195 pounds-feet of torque @ 1500 – 4500 rpm. The first one is standard with the base Elantra GT and provides 6-speed automatic and manual transmission whereas the former is available with sports variant with the seven-speed dual clutch transmission. Both variants come with all-wheel drive system as standard.

The rear suspension torsion beams are replaced by the independent multilink setup which enhances the vehicle controlling as well as keeping the rides supple.
