2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Review

About a year ago, the Volkswagen Company shows us its new Tiguan model. This model still isn’t on the markets in the United States, and according to some rumors, we can expect it very soon. In this case, very soon means the FIRST HALF OF 2018. For the true lovers of Volkswagen, this is not so long. This new model will be the second generation of this beautiful crossover and it will be introduced next year at Detroit Auto Show. Compared to the previous model, this one will be significantly larger and that brings a lot of benefits. We can see now the third row of seats, and the next 2018 VW Tiguan will be a definitely perfect choice for all big families. The certain thing about this model is that all fans of Volkswagen and generally of the SUVs eagerly await its release date.

2018 VW Tiguan Changes

As we wrote in the introduction, the upcoming next-gen Tiguan will be bigger than an older one. More precisely, 2018 Tiguan dimensions are in length 185.2 inches, in wheelbase 109.9-inches. The wheelbase of this model will be 7.4 inches longer while the overall length will be 10.7 inches increased. That change will be very useful. Why? That fact will allow the Volkswagen make enough space to put easily third-row seats which will be phenomenal. When it comes to some other details, the most recent model will be based on the well known and very flexible MQB platform from Volkswagen. The chassis will be constructed with the high usage of lightweight but durable materials. Some other things from the outside will be pretty much unchanged compared to the current Tiguan. Of course, there will be some changes like for example longer rear doors. This change is quite notable. The C-pillar will be also different compared to the previous model.

Everything else from the outside more or less similar. The grille and the headlights will be connected and in the middle of the grille, there will be located Company logo. The mentioned headlights will be most likely powered by the next generation of LED technology. Under the grille, the bumper is even nicer. It is elegantly designed and it will be fitted with large rectangular LED powered fog lights, as well as with air vents. The rear side will be completely the same as before. Also, the 2018 VW Tiguan wheels will be most likely the same and its size will be between 17 and 19 inches alloy wheels.

Finally, we have photos of the new VW Tiguan 2018 interior design, and Volkswagen add some things, but a lot of it stayed. Of course, don’t forget the big change in addition to the third row of seats. That fact also means that the cabin will provide more space than before and that will be capable of accommodating up to seven passengers. Just like as before, all of them will enjoy in pleasant ride thanks to the well-shaped seats with cloth and leather(optional) upholstery. This model will also provide more cargo space, and if you want, even more, you can easily fold down the last row of seats with 40/20/40-split folding rear seating).

For safety is in charge the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. The cabin is also very safety thanks to the very good safety features like for example Electronic Stability Control, Rear Child Safety Locks, Side Impact Beams, Back-Up Camera, Airbag Occupancy Sensor, Driveline Traction Control, and so many others. Also, new 2018 VW Tiguan has updated infotainment system compared to the previous model, which means that we can expect a higher level of entertainment in the cabin. Optionally you could take Volkswagen Digital Cockpit display which is reconfigurable. Also, available Volkswagen Car-Net system for different types of connection, it goes with App-Connect for three types of smartphone platforms-Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.
Furthermore, optionally can choose the better sound with the Fender Premium Audio System, 12.3″ display or panoramic sunroof…

Some of the other standard interior features will include 8″ touchscreen display, AM/FM, 8-speaker sound system, SiriusXM satellite radio, MP3 Player, Audio Theft Deterrent, 4-Way Driver Seat, 4-Way Passenger Seat, Heated Front Seats, heated steering wheel, Leather Steering Wheel, Remote Keyless Entry, Cruise Control, Manual Air Conditioning, and many others as well.
Standard and available driver assistance features will include Audio Theft Deterrent, Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Remote Keyless Entry, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Traffic Alert, Autonomous Emergency Braking(+ Pedestrian Monitoring), and rearview camera and many others as well.

Engine and Performance

Beneath the hood, the forthcoming model will be powered by a direct injection and turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI inline-4 engine. This engine will be capable of accommodating up to 184 horsepower @ 5100 rpm and 221 lb.ft of torque @ 1700 rpm. The power will be routed to front wheels trough the 8-speed automatic system, over the front wheels. Some rumors suggest that we can also anticipate a plug-in hybrid option. EPA rates for new VW Tiguan 2018 are not yet provided, and as soon as we receive some new info, we will update this review.
Finally, there is available 4Motion with Active Control AWD with four modes.

Price and Release date

The release date of the new 2018 VW Tiguan will be most likely at the beginning of 2018. When it comes to prices, the Company didn’t mention that, because it is too early.
