We always expect from BMW to have strong and attractive machines, however, trends in the World are changing, so they must change too. They did it with electric cars, and now their next goal is compact sedan market, why not? The new 1-Series Sedan is profoundly derived from the Compact Sedan Concept, which was unveiled by the German automaker at the 2015 Auto Show in Guangzhou, China. The all-new 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan is one of the smallest body sizes from the German giant, which should be launched shortly as a next year vehicle. Although more detailed particulars about the new small sedan are not available, it is definite that it will be first released in China, and it will then be released worldwide. The BMW 1 2017 should be constructed as hatchback and sedan(now it’s officially confirmed) with four doors.
2017 BMW 1-Series Exterior
Most of the external elements of the next-gen BMW 1-Series Sedan should be quite the same to those of the earlier hatchback models. The front part of the new sedan comes equipped with the same snout and trapezoidal grille, but its twin circular headlights with newest LED technology will be narrower than those of its predecessor. These features offer the new sedan a more athletic and aggressive front look. Rear lights have familiar L-shape.
Both front and rear parts come with aggressive bumpers as the wide radiator grille comes with bigger vents on both sides. Furthermore, it also comes with the similar apron as that of the concept sedan, it borrows many external elements, such as the waistline and side panels from the bigger BMW 3-Series. Wheels are 17 inches Light alloy for the 118i trim, 16 inches for 118i Lifestyle and 18 inches other trims.
Dimensions length of 4,45 m / 175 inches, a width of 1,80 m / 71 inches, a height of 1,44 m / 57 inches , and wheelbase of 2,67 m / 105 inches.

Most of the interior features, such as the middle stack, instrument panel, steering wheel, infotainment screen, the radio, the A/C vents, the gear shifter. Also, the door panels of the 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan will be similar to those of the hatch. However, the car gets some unique features according to the needs of the modern day buyers. Most of all, the new compact sedan comes outfitted with the ConnectedDrive expertise and the latest infotainment and safety systems. Additionally, the BMW 1-Series 2017 comes equipped with entirely different seats in the front. Although the automaker has not yet given us official data about the engine options of the 2017 BMW 1-Series sedan. One thing is certain that BMW has taken much effort to improve its performance and fuel economy by providing it with different gasoline and diesel power units.
The base trim BMW 118i Sedan comes equipped with a three-cylinder powertrain with the size of 1.5 liters. This engine offers the new compact sedan the power of 136 ponies and the torque of 220 Newton-meters @ 1 250 rpm. transmission is 6-speed Steptronic.
From 0-60 mph or 0-100 km/h it runs for 9.4 seconds with top speed of 212 km/h / 131 mph. Combined fuel consumption is very good, only 5.5 l/100 km / 43 mpg.
The BMW 125i Sedan will also likely to be provided with a more powerful four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine(the strongest for this series) to generate the highest power of 231 ponies and 350 Newton @ 1 250 rpm. From 0-100 km/h / 0-60 mph it goes in 6.8 seconds, top speed is 250 km/h or 155 mph. Fuel consumption is 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres / 37 mpg. The second 2.0-liter engine is for BMW 120i Sedan trim, it is a weaker version with 192 ponies and torque of 280 Newton @ 1 250 rpm. This trim is a bit slower, from 0-100 km/h / 0-60 mph it goes in 7.5 seconds with top speed of 235 km/h / 146 mph. Combined fuel consumption is better, this one spends only 6.2 liters per 100 kilometers / 38 mpg. Transmission is 8-speed Steptronic.

When comes to diesel powertrain options, first, the new BMW 1-Series sedan 2017 will be equipped with a 3-cylinder diesel unit with the displacement of 1.5 liters to offer the sedan the maximum power and twist of 120 ponies and 200 lbs per foot respectively. This is the lowest fuel consumption unit, but without precise data yet.
Buyers have the option to choose the new 1-Series with a 6-speed Steptronic transmission system or an 8-speed Steptronic transmission system.
Although the performance figures of the engines have not yet revealed by BMW, it is expected that they will offer better performance when compared to that of the earlier model.
Base cost and the date of release
As usual, BMW has not yet revealed the base cost and the date of release of 2017 model 1-Series Sedan. However, from reliable sources, it is learned that the new model will be available for sale during the fourth quarter of 2016 with the starting price of 280,000 CNY (approx $41,760).
